The original title for this post was “10 Surprising Email Marketing Statistics For 2014”. The issue was, these stats aren’t that surprising for us. We’re seeing an increase in email use year on year and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down.

The numbers for email are huge. For example, the leader in email marketing statistics Radicati Group estimates there will be 5.2 billion email accounts by the end of 2018. Wow!

What’s really ‘wow’ though is that their earlier prediction of email accounts for 2014 was very close – 4.1 Billion. That’s a lot. A heck of a lot more than Facebook’s 2.45 billion monthly active users.

At Spike, we’ve made some big decisions over the years based on where we see email marketing going and based on research like this.

One big decision was cutting delivery charges. This allowed our clients to send the emails they needed to to get the results they wanted. We didn’t want clients to be penalised for building large databases. Databases they need to sell stuff and make a profit.

Why would you hinder that? By having clients send the amount of emails they need to send to get the results they want, we all win.

Enjoy.
