This week’s Motivator
We are living in another one of the most advanced periods in history. Better technology. Better medicine. Faster everything.
And yet – more stress.
We fill our time. We entertain ourselves. But we rarely stop long enough to actually enjoy life.
Think about the last sunset you noticed.
Or the last time you sat still without reaching for your phone.
It doesn’t happen often.
That’s where music comes in.
Music has a way of cutting through everything else. It slows you down. It shifts your mood. It brings you back into the moment.
A single line in a song can stay with you for years. Like this one:
“Even flow, thoughts arrive like butterflies.” – Pearl Jam.
That line feels calm. It reminds you to observe thoughts as they come and go without grabbing hold of them or chasing them away.
Then there are lines that hit differently. This one for example:
“I can’t drown my demons, they know how to swim.” – Bring Me the Horizon.
That one sticks because it’s true. You don’t eliminate struggle. You live alongside it.
That’s the power of music.
It gives language to things you already feel but haven’t put into words.
It can calm you when you’re overwhelmed.
Lift you when you’re flat.
Push you when you’re stuck.
But only if you use it.
Not as background noise.
Not as filler.
As a tool.
Take time this week to actually listen. Dig up the songs you listened to when you were young. They might still mean the same thing. Let the music shift your thinking, even slightly.
Because when you feel different, you act different.
And when you act different, your life changes.
Monday Motivator
Music can help you better understand yourself.
Take time to listen to songs that resonate with you and notice what they are telling you.
Prompt for the week
What lyrics have stayed with you – and why? I’d love to know.
Pick one line. Sit with it.
What does it say about how you think, feel, or live right now?
