What Should We Include in Our Newsletter?
One of the most common questions we get asked at Spike is, “What should we put in our newsletter?” Today, I’m going to share a simple yet powerful strategy to create great content for your email newsletters quickly: The Power of the BCC.
The Power of the BCC
Before we start, I firmly believe that the value of your business lies within your customer database, and email is one of the best ways to unlock that potential. And that most businesses have more content than they know what to do with at their fingertips.
So, what exactly is the Power of the BCC?
It’s a straightforward concept: use the questions you and your team answer daily to create great content for your email newsletters and website. Every day, your team answers numerous questions. By harnessing these questions and answers, you can create unique content in your voice and tone.
Why Harness the Power of the BCC?
You need to harness the power of the BCC to create good content faster. This relevant, interesting content will resonate with your audience, establishing your expertise and helping you maintain existing clients while attracting new ones. Your opinion matters, and sharing it through well-crafted content is invaluable.
How It Works
1. Set Up a BCC Email Address: Create an email address, such as content@yourcompany.com, and start using it. The hardest part is remembering to use it, but once it’s set in your default settings, it will become second nature.
2. Gather Questions and Answers: Each month, review the relevant questions and answers. Tweak the copy and use it in your newsletter. For some clients we have access to this email account to speed up the process of building emails.
3. Expand the Content: Use tools like ChatGPT to expand the content into a comprehensive article. However, ensure you have a human edit the content, as AI-generated text can sometimes be verbose and nonsensical. I recommend using Grammarly for editing assistance.
Putting It into Action
Set up the BCC email and start answering questions like, “Is a director or a shareholder required to have their actual home address shown on the company’s office website, or can it be the same as the registered office?” This kind of content is what people are searching for, and having it on your website can significantly boost your SEO.
Simple Marketing Calendar
Consider setting up a simple marketing calendar. Include an introduction, the month’s question, a relevant business growth tip or tax change notice, and perhaps a segment introducing your team. This consistent structure can help you stay organised and ensure you’re providing valuable content regularly.
