Too much of our thinking is in the past and usually on negative past experiences.
When confronted with a situation and before we take any action, we carry out a computer-like search of our subconscious mind to see what we know about it. We go through the historical facts stored in our mental archives at the speed of light. In many instances, when we do this, we limit our options by stifling our imagination and potential.
The past is gone, yet it keeps popping up.
You can quickly recall things you said, did, heard, or saw many years ago, e.g. past events as if they happened only a moment ago. Your subconscious mind stores them away, but it only takes a word or a picture to trigger them off, bringing them flooding into the present.
Unless you discipline these inner voices, they will take over and dominate.
A fundamental truth is that you can either base your thinking on negative past experiences or use your present unlimited thinking to build the future possible for you. We call this possibility thinking. It’s very powerful.
Remind yourself of the following from time to time: I will make every moment count by living in the present and not dwelling on the past. And, every so often, I will stop and ask myself if my thoughts are dragging me back or moving me forward.
Have a great week!
