20230620 scaled - Are you possessed by a god?

Recently, someone asked me how all this ‘E-Commerce’ got started. I replied that it started with an idea to sell things online and the ‘E’ stands for Enthusiasm 😉

I do love enthusiasm. The word itself is cool. It’s derived from the Greek, enthous ‘possessed by a god’. Very cool.

Enthusiasm flows from commitment which means throwing yourself into a goal, an activity or a relationship. It certainly leaves no room for doubt, worry or other people’s negative opinions.

It grasps the moment – ‘Carpe Diem’ – seize the day. An enthusiastic person enjoys the challenge and the hope of success. Enthusiasm makes you come alive and is the principal driving force behind the authentic development of every person.

All action, performance or behaviour stems from Thoughts and Feelings. Many people go through life and achieve very little or have very little to show for it because they created the vicious cycle of thinking negatively – feeling insecure – experiencing fear and non-performance.

Whereas, those who realise a fulfilled life think positively – feel secure – and achieve results.

Adopting a negative attitude destroys the greater you. The person you are meant to be.

Be assured, some things will go wrong but the secret is how you chose to react to those events. If you chose to be negative then you chose to be miserable. And that is such a terrible waste of the time you are given here on this Earth.

Humanity is currently obsessed with all the world’s environmental problems, yet overlook the worst environmental polluter – negativity. The real killer of enthusiasm. Think! Things can be better and good guys do win.

Why waste your time on this non-performer when you can so easily switch to a positive results-producing energy?

The real secret of success is enthusiasm. Which has as its main ingredient – excitement.

When people are excited they are driven to relentlessly pursue the goal or undertaking of their choice no matter how small. Because it is in the realisation of that goal that they achieve success.

You can do anything if you have enthusiasm because of its addictive nature. It causes you to walk tall, raises the tone of your voice and brings a smile to your face. Your whole attitude, that is the way you think, feel, and act, sends messages to the brain which in turn releases a stimulant called endorphins. Which is a neurotransmitter that has incredible benefits.

They are proteins that lower blood pressure, and are even said to fight cancer. Endorphins also do something else, they make you happy. And the happier you are, the more enthusiasm you generate. It’s like a win-win situation.

The whole nature of enthusiasm is the passion it generates and lets you engage deeply in things that matter. Things that are important to you and become part of your ambition.

Unfortunately, there are too many people who try to crush other people’s enthusiasm and stop you from achieving the greatness that lies within you.

Mark Twain has an answer for those dream-stealers when he says, “Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that. But the really great, make you feel that you too, can become great.

When you are passionate about something you come alive and alert and are able to cast off negativity and its enervating emotions. Plus, you have more energy for your pursuits. Passion heightens your awareness and mental acuity.

Of course, when you engage in enthusiasm you expose yourself to possible ridicule, rejection, or failure, but it also fills you with excitement and hope.

Enthusiasm is contagious and is one of the main qualities of a great leader.

Find the enthusiasm in your life, your relationships and your career. Find it, protect it like you would a flame in the wind. Help it grow, provide it with fuel and the fire will never burn out.

To your success this week.
