It’s not often I quote Oprah, and I don’t think what she said is entirely true – the answer does not always come straight away. But, stillness helps a lot and allows you the space for the answer to come. That’s big.
Meditation is sometimes seen as a bit woo woo or something you just don’t have time for. Someone once said if you don’t have 30 minutes for meditation you need three hours.
We have busy lives and taking a few minutes to be still once a day just doesn’t seem worth it. Why bother right? Email to check, Facebook to update, TV to watch, kids to look out for, kids to entertain and so on and so on and so on …..
Why are we so afraid of being still?

I was watching an episode of the Random Show with Tim Ferriss and Kevin Rose and Tim mentioned he had started meditating. The method is simple: Choose a song around 4 minutes long, play it, close your eyes and breath green light in and dark stuff out. He got a bit of stick from Kevin when he talked about the green light.
However I’ve been doing it for over a few weeks now before I start work. I’m in the office before everyone else, although I have left it late once or twice and had people come in. Not too embarassing though because I’ve got my ear plugs in and probably look like I’m looking at my screen and thinking about something.
4 minutes of being still and breathing in and out. Life changing? Not sure. Great way to clear my head of stuff and start the day? Definitely. Am I breathing in green light? No, I think light is white so I visualise white light instead.
Can you sit still for that long %%First Name%%? Trust me it will be hard at first. Your thoughts will still be racing, your eyelids will move and you might feel stupid. Even using your imagination to come up with white light can be hard in the beginning. But that will pass, it will become a habit, and boom you’re meditating. Cool!
The song I choose is Dirty Paws by Of Monsters and Men. Tim is using Party Like it’s 1999 by Prince. Find one that works for you, sit still, and breath.
