YourMondayMotivator: More and more people are simplifying their lives.

More and more people are simplifying their lives – going back to basics, away from consumerism.
In my opinion we should continually simplify, tweak, and perfect ourselves and what we we do.
Frank Lloyd Wright said, “The architect should strive continually to simplify; the ensemble of the rooms should then be carefully considered that comfort and utility may go hand in hand with beauty.”
Detail can go either way – simple or complicated. We generally choose complicated because it looks like more effort has been put in. More thought. More work.
That is not true. Quality is rarely complicated. Take one of my favourite subjects, cars. The best looking cars are not complicated looking. For example an E-Type Jaguar. Uncomplicated lines that took a very long time to perfect, and manufacture, mean the E-Type is still considered a beautiful car today.

Or the best looking aircraft ever built, the Spitfire. With it’s elliptical wings that not only made it an amazingly agile aircraft but a fantastic and deadly looking one.
We do not need a lot of “things” to be happy. In fact the less “things” you have the happier you might be. Things can be a heavy weight that take a lot of responsibility. They need protecting and looking after.
For who? The next generation? They don’t seem to care. If you look closely you will see a generation that are not buying houses, not just because they can’t afford them, they are not loading themselves with debt or things, that is more weight. They are seeking experiences, knowledge and looking at how they can make a difference. A big difference in some cases.
They are however doing this off the back of their parents hard work and “things”. But they have a viewpoint I think we should take note off and try to instill in our lives. By always looking to simplify and save or strive for quality we carry less and can enjoy more.
Have a great week.
