YourMondayMotivator: Measure twice, cut once

What you measure you can track and that is very powerful for you. I watched an amazing TED talk about a researcher who set up cameras everywhere, almost, in his house and was able to track the birth of words in his new born son. Watch it here.

He says at one point the implications of this are profound and I for one have been inspired to do a lot more tracking in my life and business. Luckily for me I have a huge amount of data I can track and I’m excited about what that could offer not only me but my clients. I’m talking about stuff beyond just the opens, clicks, bounces and unsubscribes we generally report on.

Recently I have been measuring several things to see what the exercise and dietry changes I am making are doing. Every morning I am now in the habit of weighing myself and measuring my waist. What’s really interesting is I am now seeing patterns and can figure out what works for me and what doesnt. Saying no to a donut on the weekend could be a thing of the past.

Measuring something is the ONLY way you can see these patterns.

This week pick one goal and then track what you do towards that goal. You will quickly see what works and what doesn’t and be able to do more of what works. This is life changing stuff and I am a bit incredulous I never learned it earlier.

Have a great week.
