YourMondayMotivator: I’m on a couch

I’m writing this while sitting on a couch at home. It’s another holiday, Auckland Anniversary Day, and I’m wondering where other people are sitting reading today’s MondayMotivator.

It amazes where you can go from your couch. Yesterday I was in China with Tim Ferriss, Kevin Rose and Glenn McElhose and learned a lot more about it from watching their escapades than I would from a travel show. Do I want to go to China now? Definitely!

From my couch I watched an inspirational interview with Jack Dorsey. Jack is the guy who came up with the Twitter idea and is a co-founder of Square. It was very interesting to hear how he came up with ideas and I recommend the video.

Neil Gaiman said, “You get ideas from daydreaming. You get ideas from being bored. You get ideas all the time. The only difference between writers and other people is we notice when we’re doing it.”

Jack’s interview is along the same lines. We need more than ideas and luck. We need to notice our ideas / daydreams and position ourselves where we do something with them. That means having the team / friends / family around us that can help run through those ideas and see if they stack up. Put the ones aside that don’t at the moment and work on those that do.

This week pay special attention when you are daydreaming. You will surprised at what you are dreaming up.

Have a great week.
