YourMondayMotivator: Have you had a laugh today?

“Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward.”
— Kurt Vonnegut

I’m with Mr. Vonnegut on this one. I like a good laugh. Sometimes I have been known to laugh inappropriately. … Haven’t we all though.
It’s a reaction I prefer. Punching someone on the nose is inappropriate. Swearing outrageously is inappropriate. A good laugh has the power to make people, stop, think and sometimes have a laugh with you because the situation is ludicrous.
Laughing at a gun isn’t going to be helpful though. Or a knife. Or someones nasty misfortune where they get hurt. Then you have to pitch in and do whatever you can to help, or escape. Even if they did pin themselves climbing over a fence.

Last night New Zealand’s finest and some excellent overseas acts kept me laughing and awake until way past my bedtime. It was great to see Kiwi comedians getting big laughs and the Festival being so well supported.
Laughing is easy to do if you have access to the internet. LOL Cats will keep you amused. Bill Hicks and George Carlin will have you thinking long after the laughter has stopped and Ben Hurley will have you wondering how your bag missed it’s connection.
This week watch how you react to things and the effect it has on people around you. Try a smile, a chuckle or a laugh. Watch the effect. Try a hug when you meet a friend. Watch the effect. Pay attention to how you effect people. Each reaction and action is like throwing a stone onto a pond. What effect do you want your ripples to have because they go a long way.
