What's the difference between a moth and a cockroach?

It might help explain the difference between successful people and everyone else…

hero - What's the difference between a moth and a cockroach?

Welcome to this week’s MondayMotivator.

Hi %%First_Name%%,

So what is the difference between a moth and a cockroach? Well the questions I asked myself for this week’s MondayMotivator were;

1. What is the difference between successful people and everyone else, and

2. Why do successful people sometimes seem so different from what could be considered normal? I came across this short story that might help explain the difference…

The Story of the Moth and the Cockroach

One day a cockroach spent his day watching moths fly into a light bulb and get fried. One by one these moths flew into this light bulb.

Finally the cockroach made up his mind that he would ask one of these moths why the heck they flew into this light bulb. So he called a moth over to talk with him. He asked the moth, “Why do your kind fly into the light bulb, just to kill yourselves?”.

“That’s simple,” says the moth, “we moths see you cockroaches day after day doing not much everyday. You eat and have kids, teach your kids the ways to get food and eat. We moths laugh at your kind. We moths prefer to live wild and exciting lives. We live about 2/3s of the life you cockroaches live, but when we fly into the light bulb it’s the greatest, best, most stupendous, outstanding feeling one can feel. It’s so beautiful and great. You see cockroach, why you live 1/3 longer than us moths is your lives are often dull and boring in comparison to ours. Moths live their life to the fullest and in the end have no regrets”.

The cockroach, after hearing the moth’s testimony, watched him fly into a light bulb and get fried. Once again, the cockroach wondered why the heck moths would do such a thing.

The cockroach will never understand because he does not want something as much as the moth does. The goals of the two species are completely different and neither will ever understand each other.

Be the moth and live the greatest, best, most stupendous, outstanding life you can.
