As they say a new year a new you. Or in my case a new way of keeping in contact with you.
As a Spike News reader I appreciate your readership and allowing me into your email inbox and mind-space each week. I really value that.
Last year was quite the year. There were massive upheavals and a lot of time for reflection on what worked and what didn’t. Both for me, Spike and our clients.
So, I want to take you back to the beginning. When I first started out on my own in August 2004 I was not in a great place. What I’d been working on came to a crashing halt, a relationship was ending badly and I’d had to move back home to stabilise where I was at. Not a great time but I could see huge potential in managed email marketing.
To dig myself out of this hole I came up with the idea of starting each week with something positive. The MondayMotivator. Writing it not only helped be disciplined it showed what you could do with email marketing by helping me stay in contact with people I met. It also showed that people’s idea of email frequency was incorrect. You could send more emails than you thought possible if they were useful.

My goal has always been to be the best version of myself and in doing so inspire others to do the same. Spike News didn’t fulfil that goal and always felt like it was just more inbox noise. Useful, but if you looked you could get the same information from others.
What you can’t get from other people though is the MondayMotivator and I’ve found over the last year especially I can positively contribute to people’s lives with it.
So, from this week I’m going back to what made Spike successful, kept me top of mind with people I met and lead by example by writing the best MondayMotivator in the world. I’m back to inspiring people to get them to think and grow. I think the world needs that right now.

I’ve always said, SME’s are the backbone of our economy and email marketing is the best way to get the most from your existing customer’s database and grow your business.
