It’s very easy for us to overestimate how often problems occur in our relationship. We can use terms like “you never… you always…..you’re so….you’re forever….. etc. This inflates the frequency of the problem, and gets people on the defensive. Keep in mind the following:
*Think ‘sometimes’ not ‘always’*
This week I want you to be aware of exaggerating statements. Sit down with your partner and talk about some of the times you tend to blow things out of proportion. Now re-write the script and start saying things in a different way like “you sometimes….you occasionally………you now and then…… you at times can….. .
