Do you know what it is?
Do you have it?
Can it be learned?
How many people failed at something because they gave up just as they were about to succeed? I would suspect lots. If they had known how close they were to succeeding, would they have given up?
Grit is the major difference between success and failure. You are gritty if you are persistent, focused, see things through, aren’t deterred by setbacks and are passionate about what you do.
To become gritty, do something you are passionate about or find something to be passionate about in your current job. Realise you don’t have to be good at everything. Stick to the one thing you have chosen and work at being the best at that.
If you are enthusiastic about something you are more likely to persevere and deal with any obstacles that are put in your way.
In my opinion, grit is more important than talent in that your willingness to stick at something, you are passionate about, will inevitably propel you to success.
Got grit? Imagine Clint Eastwood with squinted eyes, hat pulled low, toothpick between his teeth and his hand resting on his holstered gun ready for action! That’s grit.
