Check out week’s quote, I’ll wait while you scroll down and have a quick read. It was passed on to me by Rebecca. Rebecca says they use this quote in teaching because to enhance your knowledge, learn new knowledge, accept changes, adapt, etc you have to have an open mind. Cool!
For me, it brought to mind my time in the RNZAF where one of my jobs was to pack parachutes. During that time, early ’90s, the Americans dropping stuff off to Scott Base had a 70% open rate with their parachutes.
I will repeat that, 70%.
So 30% of the things they were dropping were hitting the ground very hard. Now I don’t know about you but to me, that can’t be good. They needed to improve their open rates and so we started packing their chutes for them. Their open rates went to 100%.
What has this got to do with your mind? Well, the Americans had a very big reason (goal) to get better open rates – it was costing them millions having a 70% open rate.
And so it occurred to me that if you have a big enough goal your mind will open, like a parachute, and you will see new opportunities, ideas and gain the knowledge needed to propel you towards your goals.
This week think about your goals. Are they big enough, do they challenge me enough to get my parachute to open?
Have a successful week and keep the straps tight on your parachute pack, you never know when it’s going to open.
